Vision statement

We desire to make disciples of Jesus Christ, who are zealous to spread the glory of God to the ends of the earth.

Core Biblical Truths

We desire to glorify the Triune God in everything we do and this will only happen as we find our satisfaction in Jesus alone. [Deuteronomy 6:4-5; Isaiah 42:8; 48:11; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; 10:31; Philippians 3:7-8; Hebrews 12:28-29; 13:20-21]

  • We want this truth to penetrate, encompass and control everything we do at Bethany.

We believe the Scriptures are foundational for the Christ-treasuring life when “cut straight” and used under the control of the Holy Spirit. We must long for, meditate on and live out the Word of God. In the Scriptures we have been given everything needed for the God-ward life. [Psalm 119; Romans 15:4; Colossians 3:16 (Ephesians 5:18); 2 Timothy 2:15; 3:16-17]

  • This means the preaching and teaching ministry of the Word of God and the primacy of the Scriptures is of the utmost importance whether it is in an informal small group setting or a larger corporate setting.
  • It will also require each of us to be involved in personal study and application of the Scriptures for the development of an obedient, faith-filled life.

We believe the family is the God-ordained foundation of society. Therefore husbands, as the God-ordained head of their home, must be leading their families and loving their wives in a Spirit-filled, Christ-like manner. Wives, in turn, must be submitting to and respecting their own husbands in the power of the Spirit. Children must obey their parents for this honors God. Parents, by God’s design, are the primary teachers of biblical truths for their own children. [Genesis 1:28; Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Ephesians 5:22-6:4; Colossians 3:18-21]

  • This will require Biblical instruction and relationships for both men and women that promote Godly marriages and parenting.

We believe that God has commanded His church to go into all the world and make disciples. Because of this command, we want to be disciple-makers here and across the globe. Our goal is to make Christ known and for Him to be glorified through us. Since the gospel of Jesus Christ is the only truth that can reconcile unbelievers with God, it is imperative for repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ to be proclaimed to all the ethne [nations]. [Matthew 28:18-20; John 14:6; Acts 4:10-12; 20:20-21; Romans 1:16; 10:5-17; Revelation 5:9-10]

  • The command to make disciples of all nations will require us to focus on domestic ministries which include personal evangelism and discipleship in our local and national context.
  • The command to make disciples of all nations will require us to focus on foreign missions which include those who leave their homeland and cross into other cultures and languages.

We desire for the body of Christ to function properly; therefore believers must be equipped to do the work of ministry by using their God-given spiritual gifts. As followers of Jesus, we must be diligent to exhort and encourage each other and at times rebuke and correct one another. This must be done in a spirit of humility and love as we are empowered by the Holy Spirit. [1 Corinthians 12-14; Galatians 6:1-5; Ephesians 4:1-16; 1 Thessalonians 5:14-15]

  • This means individual believers must identify and use their God-given spiritual gift(s).
  • This will require us to be intentional in developing deeper relationships with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

We desire to passionately love the Triune God with every fiber of our being. Out of this love for God will flow an unquenchable love for our neighbor. [Luke 10:25-37; Acts 20:35; Galatians 6:10; 1 John 3:16-18]

  • This means we must be looking for ways whether corporately or individually to help those in need.

As the leaders of Bethany Bible Church we desire to move the church according to these core Biblical truths; while being driven by the vision to unleash disciples of Jesus Christ who are zealous to spread the glory of God to the ends of the earth.
